Known as ‘Morbid Mae’, Meaghan hails from sunny Pasadena, California. Not so sunny is her academic research which investigates the manifold intersections of the modern, the medieval, and the medical (especially through violence and blood). Indeed, her PhD thesis at the University of Manchester read Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) through medieval conceptions of blood!
Dr Alex Carabine
‘The Gothic academic with a Dark aesthetic’, Alex’s academic research probes how medieval culture haunts and informs the Gothic. A native of piquant Liverpool, UK, her PhD thesis at the University of Liverpool explored the ‘medievalised universes’ of Gothic authors such as M.R. James, Bram Stoker, and Sheridan Le Fanu.
